Principal’s Message
In this time of so many disruptions, we at Our Lady of Grace School feel we are so blessed to be able continue teaching every day. We are blessed in that we are a small school and we are able to teach every child. Our curriculum is book based, and not “sheet based.” That is, every student has a math book, a science book, a spelling book, a reading comprehension book etc.
On March 13, when we were told schools
were going to close, teachers assigned work for
students to complete at home and teachers were
able to collect this work the following Friday.
During week two we began to organize daily
Zoom or Facetime meetings with each student to
have their work corrected and new lessons
taught. Each student has a set time to meet with
each teacher every day via video, and students
work independently on their school work for the
remainder of the school day. Students from
grade 5 to high school also have online group
classes for subjects such as science, French,
history, and religion with their teachers.
The students have had no break in their learning. We will be able to complete our curriculum for the year with our students. Our new way of teaching has worked remarkably well due to the amazing support and involvement of parents. Our students have mentioned on several occasions how much they miss the Sacraments and cannot wait to return to them. Students are also missing each other, and are looking forward to going back to school.
